The app has more than 2 billion users. The app is used by over 500 million people every day.
The site also has a lot of influencers with huge followings. You can also become an influential brand if you have the right strategy.
It is important to keep your followers informed and bring in new followers by posting the right content.
It can be difficult to determine which posts are most effective in growing your audience. This is why I will show you how to be an Instagram marketer expert.
How to Market On Instagram
Instagram has been a top-rated app since its inception in 2010. You can't afford to not have a solid strategy because of this popularity.
These are 10 powerful Instagram marketing tips that actually work that will help you make the most of Instagram.
1. Change to a Business Profile ASAP
Be sure to have an Instagram Business Account before you begin thinking about your Instagram marketing strategy.
It is easy to convert your existing profile to a business account.
To get started, simply head to your settings by clicking on "Switch Business Profile".
A business profile has clear benefits.
Followers can, for example, click on the contact button to reach you directly from your Instagram page. This is just like what they do from your website. You'll also gain credibility among your followers as an established brand.
You can create and publish Instagram ads by creating a business profile.
You can also access Instagram analytics tools called Insights that give stats about your posts' impressions and reach.
Once you have a business profile created, you can start to use them to track metrics and to understand your audience.
2. Get free Instagram marketing tools
Instagram business profiles are not that different from Meta business profiles.
You can see statistics such as impressions and engagement data through Insights.
You can also get information about the demographics of your followers including their location, age, gender, and most active hours.

These insights aren't limited to generalization. You can gain specific insights about posts over the week. These include information on how many impressions were earned during that period, and which posts were your most popular.
class="wp-image-164935" height="475" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 652px) 100vw, 652px" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing15.png 652w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing15.px255.png 350w.png_marketing15-350×255.png.png_marketing15_marketing15_marketing15_marketing15.png_png350x255.png.png_marketing15.pagram_marketing15_marketing15_marketing15.png_marketing15_instagram_marketing15.png_marketing15.png.pa_marketing15_15_instagram_marketing15_marketing15_Instagram_marketing15_marketing15_marketing15_instagram_marketing15_instagram_marketing15.png class="wp-image-164935" height="475" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 652px) 100vw, 652px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing15.png" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing15.png 652w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing15-350×255.png 350w" width="652"/>
These tools are free and can be used to analyze how users interact with your content.
You can improve your content's engagement by learning more about users who interact with your posts.
Product teasers are a category that almost always grabs attention.
Imagine if you could just post product teasers to Instagram and sell more products.
Well, you can.
You can advertise your products on Instagram. If you are careful, your advertisements won't be annoying or distracting to users.
Followers will lose their patience if you are too pushy. Product teaser posts can be a great way to promote your product and create excitement, without appearing too pushy.
These are Gilt Man's Instagram posts that don't attempt to sell products but allow followers to use a like button to purchase social ecommerce features where they can shop the entire brand's inventory.
class="wp-image-164936" height="494" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px") srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing14.jpg 635w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing14.jpg 350w.jpg 350×272.jpg.jpg class="wp-image-164936" height="494" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing14.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing14.jpg 635w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing14-350×272.jpg 350w" width="635"/>
The brand offers a 70% discount and shows you photos of some items available for purchase.
The posts were liked by thousands, which is huge in advertising.
They are not pushy and the ads work. They are laid back. They offer discounts and images to encourage users to download the app and browse around.
This is a great strategy for any industry. Starbucks teases its customers by announcing seasonal beverages with sharp imagery, but not forcing people to buy them.
img alt="Instagram post by Starbucks with a Christmas theme. class="wp-image-164937" height="447" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing17-700×447.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing17-700×447.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing17-350×224.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing17.jpg 745w" width="700"/>
If you talk to people about products that they are interested in and don't pressure them into buying, they will be more inclined to buy the product.
If they don't, they will at least interact with your post by liking, commenting, or sharing it to a friend.
Don't be afraid of showing off your products by taking photos. Be gentle.
Sponsored ads can also be created.
4. Make Sponsored Ads
Instagram has made it easy to advertise on the platform. The best thing? The best part? You can set an ad budget to control how much you spend on them.
With the carousel, you can display one or more sponsored ads.
This allows brands to target their audience in an entirely new way. Only users who were following you could see updates and photos before sponsored posts.
Brands can now promote photos to anyone who fits their target audience, thereby increasing their reach.
img alt="Instagram Post from Michael Kors of an Gold Watch" class="wp-image-164938" height="539" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing16.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing16.jpg 376w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing16-350×502.jpg 350w" width="376"/>
Sponsored ads should be engaging and appealing to the targeted audience.
Sponsored ads can also be made from existing posts, so make sure to keep an eye out for your most popular posts.
These high-performing posts can be promoted to customers later via sponsored ads.
For even greater engagement, you can run multiple posts to different audiences at once. You have many options for sponsored ads.

Instagram Stories and Reels are another great way for followers to connect.
5. Use Instagram Stories
Instagram Stories can help you generate leads.
Instagram Stories are different from regular Instagram posts in that they are presented in a slideshow format.
They are only available for 24 hours. Stories can be saved to your device and re-used at a later date.
This feature is very similar (and even a direct competitor) to Snapchat Stories.
Instagram Stories are not displayed in the news feed. Instead, they appear in a small section above it.
img alt="An image of Instagram that highlights stories. class="wp-image-164940" height="343" loading="lazy" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing18.png" width="173"/>
Clicking on your photo will bring up a window that allows you to view your Story.
class="wp-image-164941" height="405" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px.png 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-768×444.png 768w, https://neilpatel.com/wp/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-768×444.png 8899.png 1536×889.png 1600w.png 164941.png_marketing22-1536×889.png.png.png164941.png.jpg class="wp-image-164941" height="405" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-700×405.png" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-700×405.png 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-350×203.png 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-768×444.png 768w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22-1536×889.png 1536w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing22.png 1600w" width="700"/>
Instagram Stories can bring brands many benefits. Stories appear at the top of followers' timelines where they are seen daily.
Brands can use stories for behind-the scenes posts that are not as high-quality as regular posts.
Stories are a great way to show your creativity and to align with your brand's aesthetic.
Instagram's Stories feature allows you to experiment with different content types, including photos, short videos and Boomerangs. Canva and InVideo allow you to create stunning images and videos for your stories.
Instagram Reels are short videos of up to 60 seconds. These videos do not disappear after 24hrs, unlike stories. You can use the built-in editing tools of TikTok to enhance your video. Boomerangs look like GIFs and play in a loop.
Stories allows you to tag other accounts, which is useful if your collaboration with an influencer or brand.
Text, stickers, and face filters make it easy to create eye-catching visuals or edit images.
img alt="Different effects that you can use on Instagram Stories" class="wp-image-164942" height="308" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20-700×308.png" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20-700×308.png 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20-350×154.png 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20-768×338.png 768w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20-1536×677.png 1536w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing20.png 1600w" width="700"/>
Each photo or video you add will be played in the exact same order as you added them.
Stories allows you to add unlimited posts at any time. This feature is available to all businesses worldwide.
Stories can only be shared via direct messages on the mobile Instagram app. This depends on the privacy settings of the page you are viewing.
This is not a problem since most Instagram users access it via their smartphone apps rather than the website.
If you don't know of any influencers already making a living on Instagram, you should find one and get in touch with them.
class="wp-image-164943" height="480" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px") srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing21.png 640w, https://neilpatel.com/wp–content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing21.png 350×263.png_marketing21-350×263.png_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21.png_marketing21_marketing21.png_marketing23.png_Instagram_marketing21_marketing21.patel.jpg 350w.jpg.patel. class="wp-image-164943" height="480" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing21.png" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing21.png 640w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing21-350×263.png 350w" width="640"/>
6. To Reach a Larger Audience, Partner with Influencers
Influencers with large followings are the best way to reach potential customers via Instagram.
People are purchasing more products and services based on the information they receive from influential people. They trust them.
Influencer marketing is a powerful strategy that can be successful. Instagram is the most used channel for displaying influencer campaigns.
While many believed that influencer marketing was a passing fad, it has become a major industry. According to Big Commerce, companies now spend more of their annual marketing budgets on influencer marketing campaigns.
Partnering with the right industry figure can help you get your brand in front of these users.
First, identify influencers who have an audience relevant to your product/service.
Here's an example showing how Gravity Blankets used Jessi smiles, an influencer, to promote their product via her Instagram account.
This post has been liked thousands of times.
img alt="Instagram Post from Jess Miles" class="wp-image-164944" height="445" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing23-700×445.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing23-700×445.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing23-350×223.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing23.jpg 744w" width="700"/>
The brand sells weighted pillows for stress and sleep. Their Instagram page has more than 78k followers.
img alt="Gravity blankets Instagram page" class="wp-image-164945" height="467" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing24-700×467.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing24-700×467.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing24-350×233.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing24-768×512.jpg 768w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing24.jpg 1430w" width="700"/>
Jessi has over 400,000 fans who will most likely trust her recommendations.
This means that the brand has just made itself available to thousands of potential customers and new followers through one post.
There are more long-term benefits to influencer campaigns than the short-term sales and direct sales gains.
Today authenticity is a key component for brands. It resonates best with customers.
You can build trust with each influencer and build brand awareness with new audiences.
If you're smart, you might even be able to work with a prominent influencer in the future and gain millions of likes. This is what Coca-Cola did with Selena Gomez's post.
img alt="An Instagram photo by Selena Gomez showing her drinking of Coke. class="wp-image-164947" height="350" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing26.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing26.jpg 595w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing26-350×206.jpg 350w" width="595"/>
Although your customers may not be influencers yet, you can still use their posts and photos to encourage people to purchase your products.
7. Collect user-generated content
It would be great if you could create amazing content for your Instagram account without having to do any hard work.
There is user-generated content.
Your audience is already engaged. You can leverage your existing audience, whether it is hundreds or thousands.
Your followers will enjoy user-generated content more than yours, because it is authentic and unpredictable.
To showcase their products, cosmetics brand MAC uses tons user-generated content.
Here's an image that one of their users uploaded and which they later added to their Instagram account. You can see how they used #regram and tag the user in their image.
class="wp-image-164948" height="454" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27-705×454.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27-355×227-350×227.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.jpg 741w class="wp-image-164948" height="454" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27-700×454.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27-700×454.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27-350×227.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing27.jpg 741w" width="700"/>
Perhaps you are wondering how to get your users creating engaging content without being pushy.
It is actually quite simple. Your audience wants to grow their following just as much as you do.
Let them know that you will tag them in your post if they choose their photo to regram. This will give them an incentive to share user-generated content consistently.
This is a win-win situation for both you and your customers.
This is a trademark of GoPro. The brand chooses a #FeaturedPhotographer every week.
img alt="An Instagram photo of a skier from Go Pro" class="wp-image-164949" height="449" loading="lazy". class="wp-image-164949" height="449" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing28-700×449.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing28-700×449.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing28-350×224.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing28.jpg 730w" width="700"/>
This is a weekly competition for the brand and its followers.
You'll be amazed at how excited your followers are to take part in something similar.
Be careful about choosing the photos that you post. It can be hard, but remember these points when deciding on a winner.
- Is the photo in line with the brand image that you have created? Is it incompatible with it?
- What is the following of the person whose picture you wish to share?
- Is the photo suitable for your current audience?
You must ensure that your posts are in line with the brand's message and audience when you run a business. Even Instagram.
A user-generated photo shared by a large number of followers is likely to be a good sign that they are interested in your page.
Take a look at this photo submitted by Boosted Boards. It aligns perfectly with the brand's aesthetic. It is high-quality, interesting, and truly unique.
img alt="An Instagram photo of someone skating on a Boosted Board. class="wp-image-164950" height="379" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing29.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing29.jpg 600w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing29-350×221.jpg 350w" width="600"/>
Use images that are consistent with your brand's tone like this one.
However, you should not be too picky about what content you post. Mix it up, and you will see your followers and engagement grow.
You can also use this hashtag to encourage Instagram users to interact more with your company.
8. Create an Interactive Branded Hashtag
Interactive hashtags can be a great way for you to generate instant engagement.
Red Bull has almost 500,000 posts with the hashtag #givesyouwings
img alt="An overview for the Instagram hashtag #givesyouwings" class="wp-image-164952" height="467" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing1-700×467.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing1-700×467.jpg 700w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing1-350×233.jpg 350w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing1-768×512.jpg 768w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing1.jpg 1430w" width="700"/>
Customers can use the tag to upload user-generated content. This allows customers to search for posts that are related to their brand.
You can also search for images you may want to repost on your page.
It is free advertising to create a hashtag that users (and your company) can search for.
When someone posts a picture using the tag they are exposing your company's brand to their followers.
Consider using a well-known brand slogan or phrase as your branded hashtag. Coca-Cola achieved this feat with the hashtag #ShareACoke.
No matter what your posts are, it is important to keep them in the right time and not overpost.
9. Post at the Right Times (and don't Over-Post).
Over-posting on Instagram can cause you to lose your followers.
If they only see your brand in their news feeds, they will likely unfollow you as soon as possible.
You want to keep your news feed updated on a regular basis.

These hours correspond with the time people get ready for work, commute to work, and check social media throughout the day.

This will ensure that you don't overwhelm your followers' news feeds.
Once you have made these changes, keep track of your metrics so you can monitor areas that need improvement in your Instagram marketing strategies.
10. Be sure to track the right Instagram metrics
Without knowing how your Instagram page and posts perform (or are underperforming), you can't optimize or improve it.
You will know what works and what doesn’t when you have quantifiable results.
Start by keeping track of your followers' growth rate.
It is often viewed as a vanity metric that measures how many followers you have. It is.
However, your follower growth rates aren't.
You can track the growth rate of your followers by monitoring their posting frequency and the content you are posting.
Next, measure engagement rates. This includes comments and likes.
To get a better understanding of the performance of your page, you will need to determine the average engagement percentage and the average engagement rate for each post.
Your engagement rate should be higher if you have a smaller following. Based on the number of followers you have, here are your rates.
Engagement Rate = (Likes +Comments/Total Number Of Followers)

You must also track your URL click through rate.
Add a link to your website to your Instagram bio ASAP if you don't have one.

Next, determine how many people click through to your URL.
According to Conversion XL, Instagram's average CTR is 0.94%.
class="wp-image-164961" height="348" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px") srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing10.jpg 623w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing10.jpg 350w.jpg –350×196.jpg –350×196.jpg 350w.jpg class="wp-image-164961" height="348" loading="lazy" sizes="(max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px" src="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing10.jpg" srcset="https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing10.jpg 623w, https://neilpatel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Instagram_marketing10-350×196.jpg 350w" width="623"/>
